A Holistic Approach to Self-Care: Rest, Restore, Reconnect

Having regular healing treatments, especially during challenging or overwhelming times, can be incredibly supportive in restoring a sense of balance, harmony, and inner peace. These sessions often create space for deeper, longer-lasting shifts in emotional and mental wellbeing, helping you feel more grounded, resilient, and connected to yourself. Alongside having treatments, continuing the healing process at home can gently reinforce these benefits and empower you to take an active role in your own wellbeing.

I often recommend simple, accessible self-care practices that you can return to whenever you need support. These include guided relaxation through Yoga Nidra, where a body scan helps calm the nervous system and encourage deep rest; gentle, flowing movement such as Qigong, which supports the flow of energy through the body and promotes a sense of ease and vitality; and the use of frequency or sound based music, which can help shift your mood, reduce stress, and create a soothing environment for relaxation or meditation. By incorporating these practices into your routine, even in small ways, you can create moments of calm, restore your energy, and support your overall wellbeing in a natural and nurturing way.

Qigong

Qigong is a gentle, mindful movement practice that comes from traditional Chinese medicine. It combines slow, flowing movements with breath awareness and focused attention to help energy (often called “qi”) move more freely through the body. Unlike more strenuous exercise, qigong is calming and accessible to almost everyone, making it especially helpful during times of stress, fatigue, or emotional overwhelm. Regular practice can support nervous system regulation, improve balance and flexibility, reduce tension, and promote a sense of grounded calm. Many people find qigong helpful for building resilience, reconnecting with their body, and restoring energy in a gentle, nourishing way. There are customised videos on YouTube to support an array of conditions or focusing on general wellbeing.

Listening to Frequency Music

Listening to frequency-based music or sound can be a simple yet powerful self-care tool. This type of music uses specific tones, rhythms, or vibrations designed to support relaxation and balance within the nervous system. Many people use frequency music during rest, meditation, or before sleep to help quiet mental chatter and shift the body out of stress mode. While experiences vary, people often report feeling calmer, more grounded, or emotionally settled after listening. There are different healing frequencies for all conditions, examples, cold and flu, pains in the body, balancing hormones. A great platform is YouTube to explore the frequency sounds to help your specific requirement. The fall back asleep ones are helpful in the middle of the night when sleep fells impossible.

Yoga Nidra Body Scan

A body scan, often used in Yoga Nidra, is a deeply calming practice that gently guides your attention through different parts of the body, helping to release physical tension and quiet a busy mind. By simply noticing sensations without judgment, the body begins to shift into a state of rest and repair, supporting reduced stress, improved sleep, and a greater sense of overall wellbeing. To practise at home, you might lie comfortably and follow a guided body scan using a video on YouTube or a meditation app such as Calm or Headspace, allowing a steady voice to lead your awareness through each part of the body. Yoga Nidra can also be tailored to specific needs, with some practices designed to support conditions like insomnia, helping to prepare the body and mind for more restful sleep. It’s common to feel a sense of heaviness, warmth, or even drift in and out of awareness—this is completely normal. There’s no need to “do” anything; the benefits come from allowing the body and mind to unwind naturally.
